Barry Weisman's career as a tax lawyer began in
1969 in the National Office of the Office of
Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service. With
over thirty-five years of experience, Barry has
dealt with a vast number of situations,
including obtaining private tax legislation and
protocols to income tax treaties, testifying
with respect to proposed regulations, handling
controversies, both federal and state, before
administrative agencies and in the courts,
advising with respect to acquisitions and
dispositions of businesses, entity selection and
formation of corporations, partnerships, LLC's
and "tax exempt" entities, effecting
tax workouts and offers in compromise, dealing
with family business transitions and estate
planning matters.
Mr. Weisman's clients have included
professional sports franchises and their owners,
professional athletes and a major sports
players' association, entertainers,
entrepreneurs, owners of family businesses,
professional service organizations, and a myriad
of individuals and entities seeking tax advice
and counsel. Mr. Weisman lectures frequently on
tax matters, has published numerous tax articles
and taught federal income taxation as an adjunct
professor at Northeastern University School of
Law.
