WILLIAM R. MORIARTY concentrates his practice in all aspects of construction law, including consultation, litigation, arbitration, mediation, commercial transactions for construction industry clients, contract documents, public bidding and public contract law, mechanic's lien law and surety bond law. He has negotiated, drafted, and assisted a major Northeast hospital to administer construction contracts for a $100,000,000 reconstruction project. Mr. Moriarty also has extensive experience in bankruptcy law, representing secured and unsecured creditors, creditors' committees, and commercial debtors. In this connection he chaired a creditors' committee in an airline bankruptcy, helped reorganize a 40-plus-store shopping center in upstate New York, and perfected mechanic's liens in a real estate reorganization.

Mr. Moriarty regularly lectures on construction law topics for National Business Institute, for whom he has written articles on Advanced Construction Law in Massachusetts (1996 through 2002) and Mechanic's Lien Law and Strategies in Massachusetts (2003). Among his other presentations are "Public Subcontracting for Small Businesses", a presentation before the Massachusetts Alliance for Small Business (December 1994) and "MBE Joint Venturing in Massachusetts" a presentation sponsored by the Massachusetts Community Development Finance Corporation (Spring 1994). He is the co-author of "Representing a Subcontractor in Chapter 11," Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, MCLE 1993 93-03.06 and the former editor of the New York State Bar Association Construction and Surety Newsletter (1990-1992).
Education:

Mr. Moriarty received his B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Don Bosco College and his J.D. degree from St. John's University School of Law where he was an associate editor of the St. John's Law Review. While a student, he wrote "Stare Decisis, Sed Concreta Intelligere-The Doctrine of Precedent and Longeran's Common Sense," The Catholic Lawyer, Vol. 27, No. 4.
Professional Organizations:

Mr. Moriarty has been a member of the American Arbitration Association's Construction and Commercial Arbitration Panel since 1990. Since 1997, he has been a member of the Boston Bar Association.

Mr. Moriarty is admitted to practice before the courts of Massachusetts and New York, the United States Courts of Appeal for the First and the Second Circuits, the United States District Courts for the District of Massachusetts, all Districts in New York, and the United States Claims Court.
